Self Evaluation

In this blog post I will be talking about my final logo and the splash art I made on photoshop over the course of my first year, I will take you through my thought processes and how I came to deciding my final logo/splash art design.

When we first starting making our logo's we were provided with a grid containing many different squares to design logo on. I was very unsure what to base my logo on and a theme for me logo. I tried different techniques including stamping and using the different tools available on photoshop. I made a lot of designs using the stamp tool, including stamps of minions and different football players. These were poor and didn't have any quality.

Next I played around with the different stamps that were already on photoshop, these weren't any more successful, this was because I still didn't have a them that i wanted to create my logo on.

After using the stamps i decided i wanted to base my logo about the football team i support, Portsmouth FC. I did this by looking at previous badges to try and influence my logo, but instead i ended up just making numerous different stamps of my favorite players.

One success from playing around with the different stamps available is i found a splash image which i put my initials on. This got me looking into different splash images, when i came across many different skulls which i liked. I looked at different types of skull from humans to a range of different animals. I finally found a scull that i liked and decided to make one for myself and put my initials on each horn to put my own spin on it.

After going for a skull for my logo I decided to choose to put my designs into a medieval theme. I decided to search the internet for medieval background involving castles and different battles with a castle in the background as this is what i wanted to base my splash art on.

I started my splash art by getting a picture of a battle outside of a house and messing around with it and changing a range of different settings including the image saturation settings etc, this eventually led me on to my final splash art design. I thought i had decided on my final splash art design when i edited this picture of a castle that i found on and i had edited to have a different sky colour and made the castle look more medieval. I also had my log placed on the castle with some writing around it. I decided after a while of thinking about it that something was just not quite right, i played around with it and couldn't figure what i didn't like about it.

I went onto Google images and saw a images which was half heaven and half hell. I decided that i would like to do this with my castle picture except with good and evil, and that's how i came up with my final splash art image.

Price: We are using price penetration as our pricing strategy. This will mean that we will be setting a relatively low price at the start to boost sales volumes. This will also make sure that we focus on minimizing unit costs from the start. Also, this strategy encourages word of mouth recommendation due to the attraction of low prices.

Product: Each of our reptiles that our sold will come with a guarantee that they haven't been poached from the wild and have been looked after to wildlife regulations. We will also include an warranty that if your reptile dies in the first 6 months of natural causes you will receive a percentage of your money back.

Place: We will start by having an internet site with all our prices, the different reptiles on sale etc, this will be online before our shop opens to raise awareness . Not only will our website we will also have our shop where all the reptiles will be kept in their natural environment whilst waiting to be purchased, this will be based somewhere in the country side to ensure there is ample space to house the reptiles.

Promotion: We will be promoting  Neither Fish nor Foal on Facebook, as well as Google and YouTube as this is cheaper than advertising on the TV. We will place our ads under many reptiles videos on YouTube to attract anyone watching that particular video.

Trials Fusion

INTRODUCTION:

The third game i will be reviewing is Trials Fusion. Trials fusion is an arcade game which was released just last week and is the predecessor of trials evolution. It is available on Microsoft windows. PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox one.

SINGLEPLAYER: [ 9 ]

The Game Sounds are generally only occur when your browsing the menus with the music playing, or when you are actually riding when you hear the sounds of the bike and the robotic voice telling you what to do.

Controls the controls are very simple. There are different things you have to with the controlls as the game goes on but they are very simple to start with.

The missions on the game is the just to complete the single player story and get all the different upgrades for your different bikes you've unlocked.

The difficulty/ease to pick up the game is very simple when you have started but gets slightly more complexed as you go on.

MULTIPLAYER: [ N/A ]

The multiplayer isn't currently out.

GRAPHIC QUALITY: [ 7 ]

The graphic quality is better than the last game, as the game is fairly futuristic.

SOUND QUALITY: [ 5 ]

The sound quality is decent but could be better.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: [ 21 ]
Overall i think Trials is one of the best arcade games and once the online is released it will be even better

Fifa 14 Games Review

INTRODUCTION:

The second game I will be reviewing is Fifa 2014. Fifa started off in 1993 after ea sports had already released  Sensible SoccerKick Off and Match Day as there were no competitors in the market at this time. Fifa 14 is the latest version of the series and is released and on many different consoles including the next generation ones.

SINGLEPLAYER: [ 6 ]

The Game Sounds are generally only occur when in the match or the music that is playing while browsing the menus. The sounds are the crowding jeering or the commentary that is being produced while you play the game.

Controls the controls are very simple, but can vary depending on which setting you
choose to play on. There are different control choices for you to choose from: Classic, alternate, two button and manual

There are no missions in game, but there is
a career mode as a player and manager
where you are challenged to become the best in the world.

The difficulty/ease to pick up the game is really simple, as there are only a couple of button on the controller that need to be used, these vary on which console you are on.

MULTIPLAYER: [ 7 ]

There are various game modes in online. The main one that attracts many people to the game is Ultimate team, but there is also pro clubs and head to head seasons.

It is extremely easy to get into the various online games as there is a title screen where you select the game you want to play.

Pro clubs - Pro clubs allows you to join or create a club, allowing up to 11v11 game play. You can also create your own personal pro to play within the club you have joined/created or play drop in match where you can increase your pro's attributes as well as unlocking different appearance features and traits. When creating your club you will be able to decide the club and stadium name as well as choosing you club kits and crest. Once its created you will embark on the journey from division 10 to division 1 playing other clubs online and competing for promotions and titles.

Online Seasons -

Co-op - Fifa 14 features co-op  seasons, which was brand new to Fifa 14. Anyone can play as long as you have a friend online so you can play against two others in the world in a 2v2 ranked online play. You will start from the bottom and will have to make your way to the top of division one, win the title to reach internal greatness.

Ultimate Team -

Fifa Ultimate Team is an offline and online feature developed by Ea back in Fifa 2010 when you actually had to pay to play it. It is now one of the most influential factors when people purchase the latest Fifa's.

You are able to build your squad with over 11,000 players. Choose your favorites or pick players that fit your style of football. Set your formation, select your kits and begin playing for free. You can acquire new players and items through the Transfer Market or by purchasing Packs.

GRAPHIC QUALITY: [ 7 ]

The graphic quality is very good on certain features in the game. One example on this is the players faces, although not all the faces are realistic the top players such as Messi, Ronaldo and N'Gala have very realistic facial qualities, however the lesser the players in the lower leagues have less realistic qualities, and only have one of the default faces. In game the pitch is quite realistic and even on  next gen the grass comes of the pitch. One downside in the graphic quality is the crowd, as they are all to similar and the only thing they seem to do is jump about and hold up signs.

SOUND QUALITY: [ 6 ]

The sound quality on Fifa is of average quality. One good feature is that crowd do actually sing real football chants in some specific stadiums, although mainly there is a just a general buzz noise in the crowd. The commentry is clear and realistic, but is very repetitive.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: [ 26 ]

My overall on Fifa 14 is a great game, although there are some faults with the servers and many online glitches especially on Ultimate Team. Although is has faults and online glitches is still the best sports game on the market.
